Mom

Children’s author

Neurologist

Hi, I'm Dr. Leah Brancheck, a neurologist by trade and a mom by heart.  My journey into writing children's books was inspired by my own two wonderful children. "RabRab and the Big Angry Feelings" was created especially for them, with their beloved stuffed animals, RabRab, Moosey, and Blanket, stepping into the main roles.

As a mom navigating the daily adventures of raising a lively boy and a spirited girl, I'm deeply passionate about fostering their emotional well-being. It's a learning process for all of us, filled with both moments of joyous successes and times of hilariously embarrassing fails.

My hope is that "RabRab and the Big Angry Feelings," and future books, will provide parents, grandparents, educators, and anyone with children in their sphere, with a fun and effective way to help children understand and manage their feelings, just as it has for my own family.

Beyond my roles as an author and mom, I have a fulfilling career as a neurologist, where I love learning about the wide variety of people who come into my office.  I even teach my adult patients about some of the concepts in my children's writing. I also find a sense of balance in my hobbies.  You may find me defending my vegetable garden from squirrels, rabbits, and deer, or sitting at a dinner table that is completely covered in my latest jigsaw puzzle – all while my wonderful husband lovingly tolerates my various outlets.

I believe in the power of stories to connect us and to teach valuable lessons.  I am excited to share these special stories with you, born from the heart of my own family, and I hope they become a treasured part of yours too.  If you'd like to stay up to date on the world of RabRab, Blanket, and Moosey, please subscribe to my emails, and you will receive exclusive RabRab coloring pages.
